o AREA OF ENQUIRY

The idea of my research is based on the association of the word design with the word goods and the relationships between objects and people and their behavior in choosing stuff, the area of enquiry spaces from sociology to philosophy including practical research as my favorite kind of approach in the design process. The main strain is founded on the simple questions that a designer as to answer when designing, trying to give honest answers. In doing my research I’m trying to explore various theories concerning artifacts and people, consumption, reactions to consumption, and the role of designers in human culture. The main goal of my research would be trying to understand a bit more the relationships between the influences of the creative process of a designer in “doing stuff” for people and the influences of the particular cultural background on its creative process, trying to understand in what size the subjectivity of designers influences society and how the social behaviors influence the choices in the design process. The research is also based in highlighting the differences between modernism and postmodernism in relationship with products, reading various theories and trying again to think if it is really possible to construct theories about design or from a more skeptical point of view would be put in evidence that design just happens and that “In the end perhaps design must be learnt rather than taught” (from: How designers think_ The design process demystified, second edition, Bryan Lawson, Butterworth-Architecture).
